Calendar for Coach Meetings for the year (Keli)

      Can we look @ this and clarify the meetings?  I think that we established some meetings B4 the workshops were set.  Once we are clear, the information needs to be shared with Ginger.

 

August 29th, 12-1:30 Apple iPod / Lunch

September 24th - iPod University (time TBA, block 2 hours after 10 AM)

 

Day 1 - Differentiation A was Oct. 6th, moved to October 20th. (coach meeting will take place on 10/6 AM but not on Oct. 20th)

Day 2 - Differentiation A is March 19th

 

Research on Oct. 7th is rescheduled, date TBA (tentative date - Sept. 22nd)

September 30th - Rosh Hashana

Podkit Pals News 4 U! (Cindy and Amy)

-Each group will work together to create podcasts

-Groups were based on what icons and materials they use to introduce phonetics, letters, etc.

-Between now and November, coaches should help teachers' comfort level with using the iPods, answer questions when needed, copy email communications between coaches to keep us in the loop

-September meeting will focus on creating common scripts to use in their podcasts

 

 

SmartBoard Update (KP)

CCS is the vendor that is supplying the boards

Ben is paying for the installation ($299 per board)

They should be installed on a BLANK wall, not moveable

All boards come with Senteo clickers

Karen's next email will contain technical and detailed information, such as location to install, ethernet drops, power outlets, etc.

Round 2 teachers will receive training in April (16th and 23rd)

Dave:

***Reminder to schedule quarterly meetings with Dave before end of August

***Spend time with the handouts and make meaning from them, determine how they apply to your work

1. Notes from ILT

-Elliot's Goal Areas were discussed

 

2. Ben's goals

-Top Ten Goals - they are mostly IS department goals, and Dave is aware of this. Dave put a * under #5 since it most directly relates to our office

 

3. District 2008-09 Objectives and Goals from Instructional Tech Office (DRAFT watermark)

-Dave took items from Ben's goal sheet and applied them to our office's goals

 

 

4. Strategic Action Plan

 -Action Item on Assessment: Ben hopes that within first 30 days of school, teachers will begin collecting assessment data

 

5. Instructional Framework/Teaching-Learning Cycle

-The framework handout will be the focus of our work in C2MO

-Attempting to make this document electronically available online, with links to detailed information and examples. This is a HUGE undertaking, and will take CCSD webmasters a significant amount of time to develop

-How would a teacher USE this document in their classroom? Discussion followed on trying to determine how teachers can use this framework.

-This is Elliot's attempt to align the district around a common language and framework for teaching and learning

-When meeting with principals, coaches should find out the school goal and how we can identify which area of the framework we can support teachers in our work to help meet building goals

-Discuss this document with principals and at ADCO to help stimulate change

-Coaches should refer to this document in our work with teachers, C4T, workshops, etc. to expect that every teacher in our district will have seen this document

 

 

Office Hours (discussion of purpose and setting dates) All

The need is still there, but the structure could use some remodeling

Suggestion would be to have a broad topic (organizational strategies, SmartBoard lesson ideas, new websites, etc.)

MEETING DATE: WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH, 1:00-3:00

 

Brainstorm coaching questions for providing feedback on action plans. (JS)

 Develop a list of questions to help stimulate reflection and deeper thinking on their action plans

 

C4T PLC update - Follow-up from last week's meeting (Joel/Keli)

 

Introducing New and Emerging Technologies

 

SmartBoards: How can we implement them into our meetings so that our use of them will be seamless? (Cindy)

 

Rearrange the tables during our meetings to help integrate SmartBoard use

Remember that our learning curve is three steps ahead of teachers' learning curve, so we need to be aware of what hardware/software problems they might encounter and how to deal with it.
